Everton made some major changes over the summer and they may have had a lucky escape in moving on from Kevin Thelwell.
The Friedkin Group landed on Merseyside almost a full year ago and the improvements are there for all to see.
Six games into the new season and Everton could land an encouraging position in the table going into the latest international break with a win on Sunday.
Everton are still looking to make improvements to the squad when the January transfer window opens.
However, David Moyes will be delighted to have been shown the backing by the new owners who continue to reassure the fans.
A fresh investment of £45m has just been injected into Everton through the sale of more shares, but it is a personnel change that may have been the Friedkins’ best move.
Thelwell moved on at the end of his contract in the summer and allowing him to do so may have proven a masterstroke by the Friedkins.

Former Everton chief Kevin Thelwell slammed over stunning Rangers development
It has been suggested that Thelwell is poaching Nathan Fisher from Everton to strengthen the recruitment team at Ibrox.
MORE EVERTON STORIES
A dismal start to the season for Rangers has both Thelwell and Russell Martin under serious pressure already in Glasgow.
And TalkSPORT reporter Alex Crook cannot believe what Thelwell has just done at Rangers.
“You look at Kevin Thelwell, who went in there as sporting director, he’s just hired his 26-year-old son to be the new head of recruitment,” said Crook.
“Now, that is not the type of appointment that I think Rangers fans are going to get on board with. This is a director of football who signed 13 new players in the summer. Rangers have had a shocking start to the season. The manager that Thelwell appointed is struggling.
“I’m just not sure appointing your son is the way forward.”
Dan Purdy followed Thelwell from Everton to Rangers, but it is not a move that is working out for either amid the club’s serious struggles.
For Rangers to be struggling in the way that they are, this move from Thelwell to hire his son appears incredibly tone deaf.
Everton land lucky escape with Thelwell exit
After his exit was confirmed earlier in the year, Everton fans praised Thelwell for the work he did on Merseyside.
Evidently, he was working under difficult circumstances, with Everton plagued by PSR issues for a number of years.
However, what he is doing at Rangers is not sitting right with reporters like Crook, and it is hard to imagine fans will be on board with the appointment.
The Friedkin Group have steadied the ship at Everton and it is hard to imagine they would have stood for this sort of decision making.
This is not to say Thelwell’s son is not qualified, but there will be plenty of other candidates who will have a lot more experience than the 26-year-old.
Everton are on the up under the Friedkins and Moyes and it just goes to show the new owners have been right in their decisions made in the early stages of the tenure.
