Arsenal are keen on signing Real Madrid sensation Victor Valdepenas and have been tracking him for a while, according to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The Gunners bolstered their defence with the additions of Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapie in the summer and have tied Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba down to new deals.
Arsenal keep preparing for the future and Valdepenas remains a target for the future after emerging as one of the best defenders in the Madrid youth system.
“Look, I have one name. It is a talent that Arsenal have been monitoring for a few months now, and is a player they keep observing,” Romano said on the latest episode of the here we go podcast.
“It’s not going to be easy at all because he is a Real Madrid player, but the name is Victor Valdepenas, also called Valde.
“He is considered an important talent, a very young player from the Real Madrid youth sector, centre-back, Spanish, talented. Arsenal have been monitoring him for some time. So he is one of the players in the radar at Arsenal.
“Again, he is a Real Madrid player, and we know very well how difficult it is to sign players from Real Madrid, because all the players want to stay at Real Madrid and consider that as the best project possible. So it is not easy, but for sure, Arsenal have been tracking and monitoring this boy. So we will see what happens in the future.”
The 6ft 2in Valdepenas was first linked with Arsenal back in May, and it appears the Gunners are serious about him after the latest claim from Romano.
The 18-year-old is a left-footed defender who has also played at left-back and on the wings for Real Madrid Castilla despite primarily being a centre-back.
