Who are the NFL’s fastest pass rushers at the snap? No. 1 might surprise you, Buckeye fans

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Browns star edge rusher Myles Garrett is usually one of the NFL’s fastest edge rushers.

That’s still applicable, but through the first month of the season, there’s a new sheriff in town.

Former Ohio State Buckeye and current Broncos outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper has the fastest pass rusher “get off” (0.69 seconds), per Next Gen Stats.

Second is San Francisco’s Bryce Huff, then Garrett ties with Cooper’s teammate, Nik Bonitto, for third in that category (0.72 seconds).

Cooper starred for OSU from 2016-20, and earned a second-team All-American nod in his final year. A 2021 seventh-rounder, Cooper is of the NFL’s up-and-comers in Denver.

He finished 2024 tied for 12th in sacks (10.5), and so far this season is tied for fourth in quarterback hurries (15), per Pro Football Focus.
