Chelsea, Real Madrid face Arsenal battle in race to sign 21-year-old Serie A playmaking genius

Arsenal will reportedly compete with Chelsea and Real Madrid to sign 21-year-old Argentine international Nico Paz from Serie A club Como next year.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Nico Paz is the subject of interest from Arsenal. The Gunners are scouring the market for a young playmaker, and they have set their sights on the Como talisman. Meanwhile, Chelsea and Real Madrid are also keen on signing the 21-year-old playmaking genius from the Serie A club.

Nico Paz and his meteoric rise in Serie A

Nico Paz has established himself as one of the best players in Serie A since joining Como 1907 from Real Madrid last year. The 21-year-old did not take long to establish a foothold at the Italian club, as he hit the ground running and enjoyed an exceptional debut season. The positive momentum has continued in the first few weeks of the 2025/26 season.

The Argentine international has already contributed to six goals in only five Serie A matches by finding the back of the net three times and providing three assists. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, and Real Madrid.

A man in demand

Arsenal will dip into the market for a versatile midfielder next year, as they can do with more creativity from the central areas. While Martin Odegaard is a top-class footballer, he has not been at his best since last season. So, the Arsenal captain can do with more support in the middle of the park. Additionally, summer arrival Christian Norgaard is on the wrong side of 30, and he is approaching the twilight of his career.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s interest in Nico Paz is understandable. Widespread reports have linked Enzo Fernandez with Real Madrid, and the West London club may need a replacement if the Argentine international pushes to join Los Blancos. So, the Como playmaking genius has emerged as a viable target for Chelsea.

As for Real Madrid, the Merengues have been desperate for more creativity and progression from the central areas since parting ways with Luka Modric, as Toni Kroos’s retirement has left a creative gap in the middle of the park. So, the Como talisman is an appealing option for Real Madrid.

Apart from the three European bigwigs, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan are also closely tracking the 21-year-old Como playmaker’s progress at the Serie A club. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the former Real Madrid wonderkid.
