Statement on Everton vs Crystal Palace made as Storm Amy causes Met Office weather warning

Concerns over the Premier League clash between Everton and Crystal Palace have emerged as Storm Amy causes problems on Merseyside.

The Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning amid heavy winds, which have also had an impact at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, Everton’s new ground situated on Bramley-Moore Dock.

As Crystal Palace and Everton fans wonder whether the game will go ahead, the Hill Dickinson Stadium have released a statement on the matter.

Hill Dickinson Stadium state Storm Amy “will not impact preparations” for Everton vs Crystal Palace

At the time of writing, the fixture – which Paul Merson thinks will be a draw – is expected to go ahead.

The Hill Dickinson Stadium – who actually have their own account on X (previously known as Twitter) – posted: “We can advise that due to Storm Amy, and the severe weather currently affecting the region, Everton Way and the Originals Fan Wall at Hill Dickinson Stadium have been closed to visitors in the interests of safety.

“The closure will not impact preparations for tomorrow’s Premier League fixture.”

Of course, should the storm worsen in hours to come, this stance might have to be revised, but at the moment, the game will be played.

Crystal Palace – who could be without Will Hughes – have surprisingly not tasted victory away to Everton since April 2014.

Important details Crystal Palace fans need to know ahead of first visit to the Hill Dickinson Stadium

Fans travelling to Merseyside for Sunday’s game will be ticking a new stadium off their list after Everton left Goodison Park at the end of last season, and there are a few things to note – as Crystal Palace have detailed on the official website.

Large bags such as rucksacks, briefcases, suitcases or suit bags are not permitted inside the stadium

Small personal bags – such as a handbag – are permitted. These should not be larger than A5 size (148.5mm x 210mm/5.8in x 8.3in)

The Hill Dickinson Stadium is an entirely cashless venue with only card payments accepted

Hopefully, the game does go ahead, as it would be a shame to disturb our remarkable unbeaten run under Glasner – which will incredibly stretch to 20 games if Crystal Palace can avoid defeat against the Toffees.
