COLLEGE PARK, Md. — The University of Washington football team reportedly will be without three starters — senior cornerback Tacario Davis (ribs), fifth-year edge rusher Zach Durfee (elbow) and sixth-year left tackle Carver Willis (knee) — on Saturday at Maryland.
ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported the injury news Saturday morning, citing sources.
Davis hasn’t played since Washington’s 70-10 win against FCS opponent UC Davis on Sept. 6. He was listed as questionable for the Apple Cup vs. Washington State on Sept. 20 and UW’s matchup against No. 1 Ohio State on Sept. 27. Durfee and Willis were injured during the first half against the Buckeyes.
It’s a major blow for the Huskies (3-1, 0-1 Big Ten), who already have lost two starters for an extended period.
Sophomore wide receiver Rashid Williams (collarbone) was injured during the UC Davis game and underwent surgery during UW’s bye week.
Junior linebacker Taariq “Buddah” Al-Uqdah was ruled out for the season after sustaining a knee injury against WSU.
Freshman cornerback Dylan Robinson, who started for Davis against Ohio State, junior edge rusher Isaiah Ward, who led UW in tackles for a loss in 2024, and fifth-year offensive lineman Maximus McCree, who started several games at left tackle in 2024, seem likely to step into starting roles Saturday.
