Injury report reveals Jaguars may have O-Line issues vs. Chiefs

The Jacksonville Jaguars dropped their initial injury report for Week 5, and several players popped up. Pass rusher Travon Walker probably was the one who stood out the most, but he may not be their only player who may sit out the Kansas City Chiefs game on Monday Night Football.

Aside from Walker, linebacker Yasir Abdullah was listed as a non-participant on the injury report. On the other hand, several offensive linemen got the limited designation: Ezra Cleveland (ankle/concussion), Wyatt Milum (knee), Patrick Mekari (knee), and Chuma Edoga (knee).

Safety Eric Murray (neck), running back Bhayshul Tuten (shoulder), and wide receiver Dyami Brown (shoulder) were also listed as questionable.

The Jaguars injury report for Thursday stayed the same

In case you were wondering if anything changed on Thursday's injury report. The answer is not much. Every single Jag who popped up on the Wednesday report also made an appearance the following day.

The good news is that there's one injury report left, and there's a chance that many of the players who previously appeared will be cleared and ready to go against the Chiefs.

The Jaguars depth on the O-Line could be tested vs. the Chiefs

The Jaguars have one of the best offensive lines in the NFL. Against the San Francisco 49ers, they didn't allow a single hit or a sack. They'll need to once again protect Trevor Lawrence and open lanes in the running game if they want to have a shot at beating the Chiefs.

The issue is that three of their lineman who popped up on the injury report (Ezra Cleveland, Patrick Mekari, and Anton Harrison), and another one arguably is their best backup (Chuma Edoga). Jacksonville may be fine if one of them misses time, but if two of them sit out the Monday Night game, things could get tough.

For the sake of the argument, let's say that only Cleveland missed time; Edoga could step in at left guard. The same is true on the opposite side. If Mekari isn't good to go, Edoga could fill in for him. If only Harrison sits out the game, Edoga or Cole Van Lanen can sub in for him at right tackle.

The issue would be if, let's say, both Edoga and Mekari weren't available. Van Lanen would probably get the start. But what if Edoga, Mekari, and Cleveland missed the game? That could most definitely spell trouble for Jacksonville.

The silver lining is that both Cleveland and Mekari (albeit with a different injury) appeared on the Week 4 injury report and still played. Something similar could happen against the Chiefs.

Either way, all those injuries up front are worth monitoring, as the Jaguars will want to be as healthy as they can if they want to pull off the upset in primetime TV.
