Manchester United have beaten Sunderland 2-0 at Old Trafford this afternoon, thanks to goals from Mason Mount and Benjamin Šeško.

Both strikes came in the first-half, and Mount’s ninth-minute goal was the earliest United have scored in the league, since Amorim’s first game in charge last November.

After that, United’s Slovenian striker scored his first goal at Old Trafford and got his second goal in his last two matches.

Šeško’s performance was impressive for the Red Devils today, which saw him perform well in front of goal and also with link up play with the midfield, being awarded the Premier League Player of the Match award for his standout performance.

Post-match, the striker said: “This is the moment I’ve dreamed about as a kid [scoring at Old Trafford]. The atmosphere here is unbelievable, not just after the goal, but after every tackle.”

The Manchester United faithful have warmed to the forward, who made a transfer to Old Trafford in a deal worth £73.7 million over the summer.

It has been a difficult time for United recently, with pressure mounting on the club, but Benjamin Šeško responded to feeling the pressure, saying: “If you have pressure, you are doing something good. I don’t take pressure as something negative.”

Today’s win means the club have won all of their last three home matches, with the wins coming against Burnley, Chelsea and Sunderland.

The forward will take on Kosovo and Switzerland over the international break for Slovenia, as his nation aim to secure a spot at next year’s World Cup.

After the international break, United will travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool, in a highly anticipated match on 19th October.

Ruben Amorim’s side will be looking to build confidence from today’s result and win back-to-back league fixtures under the Portuguese boss for the first time under his reign.
