NFL Punishes Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker Before Facing Buccaneers

After dropping their season opener to the San Francisco 49ers, the Seattle Seahawks have reeled off three straight wins over the Pittsburgh Steelers, New Orleans Saints, and Arizona Cardinals.

They have a chance to make a real statement in Week 5 when they host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1) and red-hot quarterback Baker Mayfield.

Seattle's offense is still finding its rhythm and looking to settle into a groove under new $100 million quarterback Sam Darnold, which means head coach Mike Macdonald is leaning heavily on star running back Kenneth Walker to help make Darnold's transition seamless.

The 24-year-old Walker had an impressive performance in Seattle's Week 4 win over the Cardinals, rushing for 81 yards on 19 carries and adding a 29-yard reception in the 23-20 victory.

While Walker was solid on the field, he did have one moment in that game that he'd like back - one in which he drew a taunting penalty that earning him a sizable fine from the NFL league office on Saturday.

"The NFL fined #Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker III $11,593 for taunting - pointing and tossing the ball at #Cardinals CB Kei'Trel Clark, who'd yanked Walker's leg after a play last week," Pelissero wrote. "Clark was not flagged or fined."

Walker wasn't the only Seahawks player fined from Week 4.

Two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Devon Witherspoon was slapped with a matching $11,593 fine for taunting as well.

Walker is off to a solid start this season, rushing for 244 yards and three touchdowns through the team's first four games, tying for the sixth-most rushing scores in the league.
