Despite not being penalized, New York Jets linebacker Jamien Sherwood (Auburn) drew a $17,389 fine from the league for a hit on a defenseless player on an incomplete pass two minutes into a 27-21 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Monday night.

Washington Commanders linebacker Ale Kaho (Alabama) also got fined by the league without being penalized in the game. Kaho received a $4,685 fine for illegal use of the helmet while covering a kickoff in the third quarter of a 34-27 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey (Hoover, Alabama) pushed Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy out of bounds for no gain on a first-quarter reception on Sunday. But Humphrey drew a face-mask penalty on the play, for which the NFL fined him $11,593. Kansas City defeated Baltimore 37-20.

The NFL uses a collectively bargained schedule of fines to determine the amount of monetary punishment. The NFL’s Schedule of Fines also comes with aggravating and mitigating factors that can affect the size of a fine.
