Opinion: Everton summer target scores another outrageous goal, David Moyes must rue failed £45m …

Everton missed out on a number of targets in the summer transfer window.

At one stage, Everton manager David Moyes came out and openly admitted that it had been a real struggle to get players in.

“The club are trying really hard to get the players I want and I’ve found it really difficult because in my last few years (in his previous job at West Ham United), I’ve been involved in European competition,” Moyes said in July.

“It’s a bit easier when you’re a club in Europe. You get a better chance of attracting a lot of players. We’ve been in for a lot of really good players. Unfortunately, a lot them have said no at the moment.”

The Toffees ended up having a productive window and shelled out in excess of £100m, however, some of their targets that they didn’t manage to sign are now flourishing at different clubs.

One of them can’t stop scoring sensational goals.

Everton summer target Abdul Fatawu scores another wondergoal

Everton explored a deal to sign Abdul Fatawu in the summer transfer window before they landed Tyler Dibling’s signature.

Moyes and his chiefs made contact to sign the Leicester City winger, however, they were put off by his £45m valuation.

Fatawu, despite interest elsewhere, ended up staying put at the Championship promotion hopefuls, and he’s been showing his class this season.

The 21-year-old winger scored his third goal of the season against Swansea City yesterday, and it was another outrageous strike.

The Ghana international already has a goal of the month award under his belt for a very similar strike against Charlton in August.

David Moyes must rue failed Abdul Fatawu transfer

Moyes must be looking at Fatawu’s form with some regret, even if he is pleased with the acquisition of Dibling.

Fatawu is widely regarded as the best player in the Championship and will no doubt be subjected to widespread interest in the forthcoming windows.

The Toffees would’ve had to pay an extra £5m on top of Dibling’s fee to sign the Leicester winger, but it looks like it could’ve been worth it.

Either way, it’s no slight on Dibling and he could well get to that level as he continues to grow in confidence under Moyes’ stewardship.

The 19-year-old arguably has even bigger potential, so he just needs time to develop and get up to speed.
