Napoli centre-forward Rasmus Hojlund has sent his best wishes to Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko after he bagged his second goal in as many matches for the Reds in the victory over Sunderland.
Hojlund left United on deadline day after it became clear that his position as the first choice striker at Old Trafford was under threat. Sesko moved to United from RB Leipzig with the responsibility of replacing the Dane in the starting line-up.
MEN Sport reported shortly afterwards that Hojlund was open to moving away from Old Trafford if it meant that his game time would be lesser. After losing his place to Sesko, the centre-forward agreed to join Napoli on loan until the end of the season.
Until last weekend, Sesko had not scored a goal for the Reds since his move from Germany. However, he scored from close range at Brentford in the 3-1 defeat to open his account.
Fortunately for the Slovenian, his second goal for the club was a much happier occasion as he doubled the advantage against Sunderland in a 2-0 victory. Taking to Instagram after the result, Sesko expressed his delight.
"What a feeling," he wrote. "A goal at the Stretford End and three points to go with it. Let’s build on this. Hungry for more!"
Hojlund may have been forgiven for feeling jealous or envious of Sesko for scoring for United after replacing him in the squad. Instead, the Dane extended his best wishes to the striker in the comments.
Responding to the 22-year-old, Hojlund wrote: "Congratulations my friend." That sentiment was shared by United captain Bruno Fernandes who added: "Buzzing for you."
Hojlund has bagged three goals in five appearances for Napoli since moving to the Italian club. His most recent strikes came in midweek when he scored a brace in the 2-1 victory over Sporting.
