The Green Bay Packers have one of the most stacked teams in all of football.
However, that can only do so much when health isn’t by your side.
That’s why, after four weeks and watching them log a 2-1-1 record, Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report has identified this team’s primary issue:
“Injuries in the trenches,” Gagnon wrote. “Green Bay has been without right tackle Zach Tom (oblique) and guard Aaron Banks (groin), and now defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt is expected to miss time with a knee injury. Wyatt’s absence made a big impact as the Cowboys tore apart a usually stellar Packers defense on Sunday night.”
That pretty much sums it up.
Granted, the Packers still should’ve fared much better in last week’s tie to the Dallas Cowboys, but being undermanned doesn’t help, and, to give them credit, they do have the No. 1 offense in the game in terms of total yards.
As for the offensive line, their injuries have prevented them from establishing the running game.
Josh Jacobs hadn’t been much of a factor in the first three weeks of the season.
He was constantly getting hit behind the line of scrimmage, and he had to fight twice as hard for every single yard.
Jordan Love is playing the best football of his young career, except for that late-game interception against the Cleveland Browns.
Also, special teams have played a big role in the past couple of weeks, as they’ve given up blocked kicks in back-to-back games, both of which had massive implications in the final score.
Getting Zach Tom and Aaron Banks back will be crucial to helping this offense finish drives more often, and it will also alleviate considerable pressure from the quarterback’s shoulders.
Hopefully, this bye week will be just what they need to get back to full strength.
