Puka Nacua Is On Pace To Break Historic NFL Record

The Los Angeles Rams may have the best wide receiver in all of football right now.

Puka Nacua went overlooked by most teams, and he came out of the blue to establish himself as an absolute force in this league.

That’s why it’s not much of a surprise to see that he might set a new record for receiving yards.

According to NFL insider Ari Meirov, he’s currently on pace to log 1,999 receiving yards if he continues the pace he’s on after the first five games of the season.

Most receiving yards in a season in NFL history:

Calvin Johnson — 1,964 (in 2012)

Cooper Kupp — 1,947 (in 2021)

Through 5 games, Puka Nacua is on pace for an NFL record 1,999 receiving yards.

Notably, Matthew Stafford is partially responsible for the two most impressive seasons by any wide receiver in NFL history.

He helped Calvin Johnson put up 1,964 back in 2012, which is even more impressive if you consider the fact that he did so while playing one fewer regular-season game.

Then, in 2021, he combined for 1,947 receiving yards with Cooper Kupp, who also wound up winning the wide receivers’ triple crown.

Stafford clearly deserves plenty of credit, and if Nacua stays healthy for the season, he has absolutely everything he needs to write his name in history books by the end of the season.

Nacua surged as Stafford’s No. 1 target almost from day one, and he hasn’t taken a step back despite the double teams and all the defensive attention he gets.

He piles up video game-like numbers week in and week out.

More than that, he’s also the ultimate team player.

He doesn’t hesitate to put his body on the line with some vicious blocks to open up lanes for everybody else.
