For the first time in years, the Green Bay Packers chose to use a first-round pick on a wide receiver.
That speaks volumes about the special player Matthew Golden is.
However, so far, the former Texas Longhorns star hasn’t been as involved as most people thought he would.
With that in mind, he made sure to send a cryptic tweet on X during the team’s bye week:
“Stay onnat side,” Golden posted on X.
Stay onnat side 💯 🕰️

Most people might take that as a sign that he knows he just has to keep putting in the work.
Golden is one of the fastest players in the league, and while the Packers are taking things slowly with him and spoon-feeding him more touches, they’ve already shown that they want to deploy him in a variety of roles.
He’s got some touches out of the backfield, in special teams, and as a pass-catcher as well.
Of course, just like what happens with some rookies, there have been some mixed results so far.
He’s alternated between big plays and some rookie-like mistakes, and it’s just a matter of cleaning things up a little.
The Packers have high hopes and expectations for their speedy pass-catcher, and rightfully so.
Perhaps one week to rest and regroup will be enough for him to take more ownership of the offense and get more involved in the passing game when his team takes the field again next Sunday.
And once Christian Watson returns from the PUP list, the Packers will have one of the most explosive wide receiver trios in all of football.
