Gary Neville, part of the famed ‘Class of ’92’ Manchester United squad, is arguably a United legend having featured for the Red Devils 400 times.

Since retiring, the former England international has remained largely in football with the now 50-year-old purchasing Salford City FC alongside other former Manchester United players such as Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, and Paul Scholes.

Furthermore, Neville has also managed with the former professional footballer managing Valencia in 2015 and 2016 for 28 games.

During his time with the Spanish outfit, Gary Neville oversaw ten wins alongside eleven defeats.

However, it is in football media where the 50-year-old is, arguably, most well-known, more specifically as his time as a pundit at Sky Sports.

Recently, during his time with the company, the former professional expressed his desire for Manchester United to recruit in midfield.

But, it is most recently where his comments calling Ruben Amorim “pretty stupid” have took centre stage.

Now, the 50-year-old has hit back against Amorim and his criticisms of pundits.

Speaking on his podcast, Gary Neville stated that he has “not got a lot of time for that [the criticism of pundits].

If pundits are getting in your head, you shouldn’t be playing for Manchester United. Simple as that.”

Neville also reminded both the United players and Amorim that they were “at Manchester United” whilst calling for both sets of people to “step up or step out.”

Finally, the pundit stated that “excuse mentality, shortcuts, blaming other people… it’s the worst thing you can do in life.” whilst also saying that “the only way to shut people up is by winning football matches and right now, they’re not doing that.”

Attention could now turn towards Amorim to see how he reacts to the comments made by Gary Neville.
