The Cincinnati Bengals came into this season with Super Bowl aspirations. Things got off to a fantastic start when Cincinnati got off to a 2-0 start on the season. Unfortunately for the Bengals, things took a bleak turn when star quarterback Joe Burrow went down with a turf toe injury that, in all likelihood, will cost him the entirety of the regular season.
Now, Burows’ backup, Jake Browning, has replaced the star quarterback, but things are not going smoothly. The Bengals have lost back-to-back games heading into Sunday’s contest against the Detroit Lions, and Browning has struggled to get much of anything going.
Now, the Bengals are making a surprising decision at the position, considering the depth of Browning’s struggles, per one prominent league insider.
“Despite two rough weeks following Joe Burrow’s injury, the #Bengals still intend to move forward with Jake Browning. They believe he’s their best option and have seen him do it,” [NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported.](https://x.com/RapSheet/status/1974778319423025528)
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Bengals could lose 42-3 today and Zac Taylor would be like ‘Jake Is doing a great job we just aren’t doing enough around him. He’s still our guy going forward,'” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Jake this is my last chance with you. Honestly not expecting you to go for 330/4/0 but just get us in the end zone today. That’s it,” another Bengals fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see how things go for Cincinnati with Browning the rest of the season.
