Seahawks Inactives: Who's in, who's out vs Buccaneers

The Seattle Seahawks’ game status report on Friday was pretty cut and dried, so there were no major surprises with the team’s inactive designations prior to Sunday afternoon’s Week 5 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Seahawks rule 4 out for Sunday, including 3 key defenders

The Seahawks had already ruled out four-time Pro Bowl defensive end Demarcus Lawrence (quadricep), two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Devon Witherspoon (knee), Pro Bowl safety Julian Love (hamstring) and veteran swing tackle Josh Jones (ankle) on Friday, so all four players are inactive.

Seattle’s other three inactives are wide receiver Cody White, undrafted rookie edge rusher Jared Ivey and undrafted rookie tight end Nick Kallerup.

As expected, rookie safety Nick Emmanwori is active as he makes his return from an ankle injury that he suffered in the opening defensive series of the season.

Meanwhile, rookie third-string quarterback Jalen Milroe is active for the fourth time in five games, once again giving the Seahawks a potential change-of-pace weapon in specialty packages. The speedy dual-threat quarterback has played just two snaps this season, rushing gains of 3 yards and 1 yard on a pair of QB keepers.

Undrafted rookie edge rusher Connor O’Toole is active for the first time, giving the Seahawks additional edge-rushing depth with Lawrence sidelined. Rookie offensive tackle/guard Mason Richman also is active for the first time.

In addition, Seattle elevated safety Jerrick Reed II and nose tackle Brandon Pili from the practice squad on Saturday.

With Witherspoon sidelined, Josh Jobe and Riq Woolen figure to play the two outside cornerback spots, with Derion Kendrick serving as the nickel corner.

With Love out, Ty Okada figures to step into one of the two primary safety roles alongside Coby Bryant. The ultra-versatile Emmanwori figures to serve as the third safety in three-safety sets.
