Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix has been in three really tight games this year.
And on Sunday, against the Philadelphia Eagles, he and his teammates came out on the right side of one.
Nix and the Broncos stunned the defending Super Bowl champions 21-17 on the road. Denver outscored the Eagles 18-0 in the fourth quarter, an incredible comeback to move them to 3-2 on the season.
After heartbreaking losses to the Colts and Chargers in September, as well as a tough one to the the Chiefs in 2024, Bo Nix was finally glad to finish and get the job done.
“It was about time we got a fourth quarter close one. It felt like Kansas City last year, we had been there before. We went out in got points in that four-minute drill and then our defense held them at the end,” Nix said.
Those points were a Wil Lutz field goal to extend Denver’s lead to 21-17 with about 75 seconds on the clock. The Eagles made it interesting, but the Broncos defense broke up a pass in the end zone on the final play to secure the victory.
“It was good. It felt like we’ve been in that position a lot and today went our way,” Nix said.
Bo Nix finished 24-39 for 242 yards and a touchdown. He also had a key two-point conversion to Troy Franklin, giving the Broncos an 18-17 lead after a gutsy call from head coach Sean Payton.
For Nix, topping Philadelphia shows that the Broncos belong with the best teams in the NFL.
“It’s awesome. It’s a great win. It proves we can go on the road and beat these tough teams and we can be a tough team to play,” Nix said. “That’s good for our confidence.”
That confidence will hopefully carry over as Denver’s schedule now gets easier on paper. It was a signature win and moment for Bo Nix and the Broncos, now they need to keep the momentum rolling.
