Baker Mayfield delivered another statement performance Sunday, leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a 38-35 road victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 5. At this point, it’s getting harder to find new ways to describe what the veteran quarterback keeps doing week after week.
The Buccaneers improved to 4-1 behind Mayfield’s fourth game-winning drive of the season. Against Seattle, he completed 29 of 33 passes for 379 yards and two touchdowns without an interception, while also rushing 14 times for 41 yards.

Historic numbers that are starting to feel routine.
ESPN’s Jenna Laine put the performance in perspective with some eye-opening NFL history.
“For Baker Mayfield, this marked just the fourth game in NFL history of 375 passing yards on 85% (he actually completed 87.9%) on his throws… He joins Justin Herbert (2023), Lamar Jackson (2021) and Tom Brady (2009) as the only other players to accomplish it,” Laine shared on X.

Tampa Bay’s offense was clicking at a high level throughout the afternoon. The unit scored on seven of nine possessions, with four trips ending in touchdowns. What stands out most is Mayfield’s clutch gene showing up when it matters.
Every single victory this season has come with the quarterback engineering a game-winning drive in either the fourth quarter or overtime.

Through five games, Mayfield has racked up 1,283 passing yards and 10 touchdowns against just one interception. Those aren’t just solid numbers, they’re elite production from a quarterback who keeps proving doubters wrong.
If this pace continues, the Buccaneers could quickly establish themselves as a legitimate NFC contender. The kind of team nobody wants to face late in the season when games get tight and pressure mounts.
