Pittsburgh Steelers surge out to commanding AFC North lead during bye week

The Pittsburgh Steelers have gained nearly an entire game of separation just through the bye week. While sitting at home in Week 5, the Steelers saw all of the teams in their division lose, giving them a commanding lead in the AFC North.

The Steelers, sitting at 3-1, are the only team in the division with just one loss and at least three wins. Cincinnati sits at 2-3, while the Ravens and Browns sit at 1-4. Pittsburgh still has all six of their divisional games remaining, so nothing is for certain if they can not take care of their own work in the division.

Baltimore has been injured and missed Lamar Jackson, Kyle Hamilton, Marlon Humphrey, Roquan Smith, and multiple other key players that would usually be staples for them. The Bengals have struggled without star quarterback Joe Burrow, who is expected to miss at least three months after a severe turf toe injury.

Meanwhile, the Browns have one of the better defenses in football but have struggled to find consistently on offense. The Minnesota Vikings drove down the field on their final drive for a Jordan Addison touchdown that won them the game, 21-17.

Pittsburgh will come back against the Browns at home and then head to the Bengals on Thursday Night Football, giving them a prime chance to extend their lead in short order if they can grab two wins.
