Manchester City sent a scout to France to follow RC Lens’ 2-1 win over AJ Auxerre on Saturday.
La Voix des Sports share a short but information packed update on why the Manchester City official was in attendance at the Stade de l’Abbé-Deschamps on Saturday.
Manchester City are owned by the City Football Group, who also have several other clubs in their stable including Troyes. According to the report, a scout from the City Football Group was at AJ Auxerre’s home stadium.
It’s claimed the Manchester City scout was there to observe four players. Those four players are Lens’ Adrien Thomasson and Ismaëlo Ganiou, and Auxerre duo Clément Akpa and Kevin Danois. All four started the weekend’s Ligue 1 match.
Lens captain Adrien Thomasson assisted both goals, including Abdallah Sima’s winner in the 96th minute. The midfielder has a goal and two assists from seven matches this season.
Lens’ Ganiou, who started in the heart of the defence, was sent off after receiving his second yellow in the 73rd minute.
AJ Auxerre centre-back Clément Akpa and midfielder Kevin Danois both played the full 90 minutes against Lens.
