A.J. Brown not so subtly threw Jalen Hurts under the bus after loss to Broncos

Let's face it: there were many missed moments in the Philadelphia Eagles' 21-17 loss to the Denver Broncos that have every fan playing Monday morning quarterback. There's one specifically that has everyone talking, though.

Late in the game, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was looking for a deep ball pass to wide receiver A.J. Brown that initially looked to be overthrown. A moment that had all Eagles fans furious that they missed on a pass that could have put the game away.

When looking at the replay, Brown made a couple of moves on the Broncos' defense, but seemed to have slowed up as if he wasn't prepared for Hurts to throw it when he did. It was a clear miscommunication, and everyone knew this was going to be a talking point after the game.

Sure enough, everyone in the media wanted to know what happened between Hurts and Brown. There were two very different answers given, which won't surprise many fans after dealing with the drama from the past week.

Brown and Hurts weren't on the same page on and off the field

It was Brown who got the first crack at answering the question in front of his locker after the game. Who knows if this was his intention when he answered it, but it certainly felt like he might have unintentionally (or intentionally) thrown Hurts under the bus a bit.

“From my point of view, it was just missed.”

"I didn't think the ball was coming. When I looked up, I didn't see the ball. When I looked back I didn't see the ball. And then the ball was thrown.

"Like I said, we just missed."

Hurts had a different approach to his answer during his press conference. He wasn't ready to assign blame as he needed to do something first before knowing what happened.

"Yeah, I'd really have to watch the film to be able to assess that. Obviously, that's one you want to be able to hit in a big moment in a game."

Hurts finished with a season-high 280 yards and added two touchdowns, while Brown nabbed five receptions for 43 yards. The deep ball was a struggle for the Eagles as Hurts threw nine passes of over 20 yards in the air, with only two completions. That's the second-most deep passes of his career.

DeVonta Smith even admitted after the game that everyone needs to get on the same page. It was clear that there were too many moments of Hurts overthrowing targets and missing receivers, but is that all on him?

This situation will now create more headlines for a team that was already in the spotlight last week. Luckily, they only have to deal with it until Thursday, and then a win over the New York Giants will quiet the noise for over a week.
