It's fair to say Dallas Cowboys fans shouldn't get used to two-touchdown wins, but Sunday's drubbing of the New York Jets was needed after three of Dallas' first four games this season went down to the final play.
Dak Prescott turned in another statement game, and the defense rebounded with five sacks after having five in the first four games combined. It was a great team win, but Ryan Flournoy's unexpected breakout game deserves to be talked about after he finished with a team-high 114 receiving yards on six catches while tying for the team lead with nine targets.
It was Flournoy's long-awaited coming-out party. Prescott wasn't at all surprised by Flournoy's performance, and he had a funny way of describing it after the win.
Dak Prescott had NSFW way to describe Ryan Flournoy's Cowboys breakout

That's a perfect, albeit NSFW (not safe for work), way to describe Flournoy. He has a bulldog mentality that shows up in every facet of his game.
The 2024 sixth-round pick is the best blocking receiver on the roster, is incredibly tough at the catch point, and often needs two or three defenders to bring him down. One of the sneakiest pluses of Flournoy's game is that he rarely gets tackled at first contact. He's always falling forward, and that helped him pick up multiple first downs against the Jets even though he was hit short of the sticks.

It says a lot that Dallas turned to Flournoy as their go-to weapon. They knew beforehand that star cornerback Sauce Gardner was going to shadow George Pickens. While Pickens made the most of his four targets, the passing game went through Flournoy and Jake Ferguson.
Down CeeDee Lamb and KaVontae Turpin, Jalen Tolbert was widely expected to step into the WR2 role on Sunday, especially after Tolbert's big game and catch against the Packers. However, Flournoy is simply a more well-rounded player and more reliable down to down. We just haven't been able to see that because he's been buried on the depth chart.
Prescott and Flournoy have a very clear chemistry, and you can tell Prescott trusts him. It's exciting to think about what role Flournoy can have in the offense going forward. It's going to be tough to get him targets when Lamb and Turpin return, but he clearly needs to be on the field over Tolbert.
