Ryan Fitzpatrick does not hold back about Cardinals’ loss to Titans

The Arizona Cardinals went into complete meltdown mode in their Week 5 game against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, and former NFL quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick says he has never seen anything like it.

The Cardinals had a 21-6 lead over the Cardinals early in the fourth quarter and looked like they were going to cruise to an easy victory at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. Running back Emari Demercado had other plans, however.

Demarcado exploded for what looked like a 73-yard touchdown that would have given the Cardinals a 27-6 lead with just under 13 minutes remaining. Instead, Demercado gave up on the play early and inexplicably dropped the ball before he broke the plane. The play was ruled a fumble and a touchback for the Titans. You can see the video here.

Tennessee then scored a touchdown on their ensuing drive, but they were unable to convert a two-point attempt. The Cardinals maintained a two-possession lead, but the Titans quickly forced a punt. Rookie quarterback Cam Ward then threw an interception deep in Arizona territory, but the Cardinals fumbled the interception away and allowed Tennessee to score one of the wildest touchdowns you will ever see.

Then came another punt and a game-winning field goal drive from Ward and company. All in all, Fitzpatrick felt it was the worst loss he has ever seen from an NFL team.

The AZCardinals loss is the worst loss I have EVER seen

Fitzpatrick played in the NFL for 17 seasons. He has been an analyst for Amazon since shortly after he retired in 2022. Fitzpatrick has seen a lot of bad losses, so it says a lot that he feels Arizona’s latest was the worst one.

Somehow, Demercado was the second player in as many weeks to cough up the ball at the goal line because he celebrated too early. It is truly remarkable that we continue to see that mistake at the NFL level.
