Everton ended Crystal Palace's 19 game unbeaten streak with an injury time winner from Jack Grealish as David Moyes's side came from behind to beat Oliver Glasner's side.
Daniel Munoz opened the scoring where he struck his effort past Jordan Pickford to give Palace a deserved lead. The Eagles struck the post and forced Pickford into a couple of saves, as David Moyes's side weren't at the races.
Jean-Phillipe Mateta had a chip headed of the line and missed a glaring chance at 1-0 which would of put the game beyond Everton's reach.
The Blues now sit eighth in the league table in what's been a positive start to the season.
Here are four turning points from Everton's late fightback:
So far this season minutes have limited for Alcaraz who towards the back-half of last season became a key attacking outlet for Everton, scoring the winner on the last day of the 2024/25 season away at Newcastle.
Following the acquastions of Jack Grealish, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and Iliman Ndiaye playing on the right, the Argentine has found minutes hard to come by.
However, against Palace the introduction of the 22-year-old certainly changed the game in Everton's fortune as he provided much needed energy and got Ndiaye more involved as the experiment in the number 10 role didn't work.
Alcaraz almost levelled for Everton with a powerful strike stinging the arms of Dean Henderson. In the second-half Alcaraz has put up a powerful case to feature more than he has so far this campaign.
Midfield issues
So far this season the midfield has been a bit of an issue for David Moyes's side as they have often be caught in transition. It was the same on the first home game of the season where Brighton had numerous of chances to fire past Everton but failed.
The substitute of Tim Iroegbunam helped Everton in the second-half as his physicality helped the Blues to gain some control in midfield, as in the first 45 Palace broke so many times failing to capitalise as they ended the half with a deserved lead.
James Garner has been key for Everton in the early part of the campaign. the 24-year-old has excelled at left-back and in his natural position has been very composed and comfortably.
For the last 25 minutes he was once again playing in a position which isn't natural to him as he finished the game at right-back, following an injury to Michael Keane.
Garner provided an attacking option from the full-back role and when challenged of dealing with Palace's tricky number 10, Yermey Pino he did with full effect.
Reflection of the start so far
Following numerous of reckless, tiring seasons where Everton were fighting at the bottom of the league, fighting their way to stay in the division sitting eighth currently would be a nice reading for David Moyes.
The win against Crystal Palace had huge importance on it following the draw on Monday night against West Ham and a disappointing cup exit against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The season was always going to have it challenges as the club has just moved into their new home, had a huge squad overhaul but after eight games on 11 points and being in the mix of the teams above them has shown the progress that has been made.
