Mike Vrabel gives passionate speech after Patriots’ stunning upset over Bills

The Patriots stunned the Bills on “Sunday Night Football” with a 23-20 win. It was a full-team effort that resulted in Mike Vrabel’s biggest win as New England’s coach.

After the game, Vrabel told his players that his team worked hard to take the next step against the Bills — something that didn’t come as a surprise to him.

“I want you to understand that, I’m not surprised at all,” Vrabel said from inside the locker room.

“Fellas, I just got to keep reminding you every day we come to work what you’re capable of if we just work a little bit and focus on our identity and we start protecting this (expletive) thing,” he added. “Now we need each other protecting it every single day. Practice our identity every single day. Nothing’s gonna change. I promise you I’m not going to change. We’re getting on the plane, we’re making the corrections — good, bad, ugly— and we’ll give you a plan that you guys believe in and then we’ll practice it and then we’ll go win another game.”

The Patriots went into Sunday’s primetime game as the underdogs. But they were able to get to Buffalo force their AFC East rival into its first loss of the regular season.

Stefon Diggs torched his former team with 10 catches for 146 yards, Drake Maye threw for 273 yards and led the game-winning drive in the fourth quarter to set up Andy Borregales for the game-winning field goal and the defense stepped up in a big way once again.

It was a statement win for Vrabel and the Patriots, and now they have plenty of momentum on their side going into Week 6 against the one-win New Orleans Saints.
