New England Patriots running back Antonio Gibson, 27, suffered a knee injury on Sunday night.
The Patriots beat the Buffalo Bills in a close 23-20 game, but Gibson's injury cast a slight shadow over the win. The injury occurred in the second quarter when Gibson took a hard hit during a kickoff return and stayed down on the field.
Though he managed to walk off the field, he was visibly emotional as he limped off the field and into the locker room. The Patriots ruled him out shortly thereafter.
"He'll go through some tests (Monday) morning and we'll have to see what comes from those," said head coach Mike Vrabel, per Mass Live.
Physical therapist Jeff Mueller, D.P.T., shared his initial thoughts on X after reviewing the play.
"Concern for Right knee injury. The tackle didn't look like much, but it looks like his knee may have buckled inwards just before defender makes contact. Concern for ACL+," Mueller wrote.

If Gibson has an ACL injury, recovery could take anywhere from six to 12 months, depending on the severity and treatment plan.
"Surprisingly, athletes are often able to walk shortly after an ACL injury and can be shocked by how good they feel," Tommy Mandala, D.P.T., of All in ACL tells Men's Fitness. "However, they typically feel some instability, like their knee giving out on them. The only way to truly confirm an ACL tear is through an MRI."
Patriots fans will now wait anxiously for an official update on Gibson's condition and hope the injury is nothing serious.
