Former Packers WR Signs With Broncos

The Green Bay Packers have taken a somewhat unconventional approach to the wide receiver position over the past few seasons.

Instead of investing early-round draft capital at the position or making trades to acquire elite players, the Packers have elected to take players later in the draft, believing they can help these players grow and develop into big-time talents.

This approach has worked well for them, but they’re recognizing that in today’s NFL, it’s not necessarily a sustainable model.

Selecting Matthew Golden in the first round of this year’s draft was a good start, and they’re seemingly more willing than ever to change their strategies if it helps them win more games.

With that in mind, they’ve had to let go of some of their fringe players over the past few seasons to make room for their new additions.

Samori Toure was a casualty when this happened, ultimately getting released, but as Mike Garafolo noted on X, he is signing with the Denver Broncos’ practice squad.

Toure didn’t get many opportunities as a seventh-rounder for the Packers, managing just 13 catches for 160 yards and a touchdown with the organization.

He might be able to put up better numbers with a team like Denver, which isn’t as loaded at wideout, giving him another chance to make a name for himself in this league.

Bo Nix has looked strong in his sophomore campaign, and if Toure gets the opportunity to play on Sundays, there’s no telling what these two will be able to accomplish together.
