Preston North End boss praises Everton’s Harrison Armstrong again
Armstrong made his first North End start against Hull City last week and he kept his place against Charlton Athletic over the weekend.
PNE won 2-0 to continue their fine start to the season, with North End fans hailing Armstrong’s display in midfield.
North End boss Paul Heckingbottom praised Armstrong after the win over Hull City and has again picked out the Everton loanee.
Speaking to BBC Radio Lancashire, Heckingbottom predicted that Armstrong will get ‘better and better’ in a PNE shirt.
MORE EVERTON STORIES
Heckingbottom added that Armstrong simply doesn’t play like an 18-year-old, with the Everton loanee standing out for his maturity.
“I’m pleased with all of the midfielders,” said Heckingbottom.
“Ben has been excellent, another excellent performance, Harrison is only going to get better and better, I think you can see it.
“He certainly doesn’t play like an 18-year-old,” he added.
Harrison Armstrong surrounded by former Everton men
Armstrong doesn’t have to look far for players who have similar experiences in terms of coming through at Everton.
The Toffees midfielder was just one of four former Everton prospects in the PNE starting XI against Charlton.
Defender Lewis Gibson, wing-back Thierry Small and attacker Lewis Dobbin all came through at Everton before deciding to move on.
There is a strong Everton connection at Deepdale, with former Toffees midfielder James Wallace leading recruitment.
It’s therefore no surprise to see so many former Everton players featuring for North End, and that influence may just help Armstrong settle in during this loan spell.
