Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has picked two Manchester United stars in his Premier League Team of the Week.
The Red Devils returned to winning ways on Saturday with a 2-0 victory over Sunderland at Old Trafford.
They dominated proceedings from the start and should have scored more than two goals with the chances created.
It was still a much-improved display from recent weeks. United kept their first clean sheet of the season with Senne Lammens in goal.
The Belgian signed for United on deadline day on September 1, and eventually made his debut against the Black Cats last weekend.
Shearer picked Lammens in his Premier League Team of the Week and said that he did the simple things very well on his club debut.
He said: “The goalkeeper did the simple things very well on his debut. He made some good saves and commanded his penalty area in a much-needed win over Sunderland.”
The 23-year-old made three saves on the day with two high claims. He also caught the eye with an impressive 11 long balls completed.
Alongside Lammens, Shearer also selected Leny Yoro in his Team of the Week.
The 55-year-old said that the Frenchman played a huge part in the clean sheet, and the Red Devils look so ‘much more secure’ when he’s in the starting XI.
He added: “Played a huge part in a first clean sheet of the season and gave very little away. Man Utd look so much more secure when he’s in the side.”
Yoro had a bad outing against Manchester City after the last international break, and he was subsequently dropped to the bench for the next two games.
However, he got the chance to redeem himself against the Black Cats. Harry Maguire’s high-profile error against Brentford paved the way for a change.
Yoro had a good showing on the right side of the back three, and the onus is now on him to replicate the performance over an extended run of games.
United have a huge derby coming up against Liverpool on the road after the international break. They will be eyeing their first win at Anfield since 2016.
