Man United and Man City are both reportedly interested in a Real Madrid star who could leave in January.

However, it wasn’t all great for City, as midfielder Rodri suffered a hamstring injury, which could see him miss some time after the international break. The Spanish international has had a lot of injury problems in the past year, and so City could potentially look to sign a centre-midfielder in the January transfer window to help cover for him.

Man United are also looking to add in the midfield, too, with Ruben Amorim struggling to find a reliable holding midfielder to play alongside Bruno Fernandes in the deeper role, so they could also make a move in January. Both sides have been linked to a Real Madrid star.

Man City prepared to bid £52m for Real Madrid star Camavinga

Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has an uncertain future at the Bernabeu, as the French international has struggled to get regular game time under Xabi Alonso, and he has also seen injury struggles in recent months.

Reports in Spain are now saying that Man City and Man United are both interested in Camavinga, who could leave Real Madrid within the next year, with reports also suggesting that the La Liga giants are willing to sell the 22-year-old, despite the fact he’s considered one of the world’s best.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Man City are willing to pay £52m to sign Camavinga in the next summer transfer window. But, it may be worth the Cityzens considering a January move for the Frenchman in order to ease some of the pressure on Rodri, especially after his most recent injury.

Furthermore, the reports highlight Man United’s interest in Camavinga too, as they are desperate for more help in midfield. He would be able to thrive in Amorim’s midfield alongside Bruno Fernandes, as he is excellent both in possession and with winning the ball back, which is vital to United’s success.

How long could Rodri be out for?

If there ever is a good time for an injury to come for Man City, it is now, as there is an international break which should give Rodri just under two weeks to recover from his most recent set back.

After City’s game against Brentford, Pep Guardiola provided an update on the Ballon d’Or winner. He said: “It is muscular, so two weeks or three weeks. Of course, I don't want to lose him even a little bit, but it is a pity because he is such an important player. We tried to take care of him, but it is what it is.”

City’s medical staff are currently assessing the midfielder, but based on early estimates, he is looking at a return on October 26, when City will play against Aston Villa at Villa Park, meaning he could miss games against Everton and Villarreal.
