The Jacksonville Jaguars have had a strong start to the season, going 3-1 before their matchup with the 2-2 Kansas City Chiefs on “Monday Night Football.” The Jaguars’ contest against the Chiefs will be a measuring stick for where they stand in the AFC.
It’ll also be another opportunity for rookie Travis Hunter to showcase his impressive skillset. Jacksonville drafted the cornerback/wide receiver with the No. 2 pick in April’s draft. Despite being a high pick, Hunter has not put up the type of numbers in his first four games that many in the NFL world thought he would.

Hunter has recorded 13 receptions for 118 yards but no touchdowns. He’s made 11 total tackles and one pass defensed.
Per Michael DiRocco of ESPN, Hunter ranks only seventh in receiving yards per game at 29.5 yards.
Jaguars offensive coordinator Grant Udinski was honest about the limitations he has with the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner. Jacksonville has to be careful not to push Hunter too hard because he’s playing both ways.
“There’s absolutely a push-and-pull of saying, ‘What’s too much? What’s enough?'” Udinski said. “We’re always exploring what’s the best way we can get him on the field and let him go play fast, go play free without detracting from all the other things he has to do.”
Hunter has still played fair share of snaps through the first four games. He’s played 58 percent of the Jaguars offensive snaps and 38 percent of their defensive snaps.
Hunter is currently the Jaguars third-leading receiver behind second-year receiver Brian Thomas Jr. and tight end Brenton Strange. It’ll be interesting to see if Jacksonville features its star rookie more when they play under the lights against Kansas City on Monday night.
