Saquon Barkley revenge game vs. Giants still alive after latest injury update

The Philadelphia Eagles lost their first game of the season, while also bringing an end to their winning streak dating back to late last season. The Eagles blew a 17-3 lead late to the Denver Broncos, and their offense was once again under the microscope. For running back Saquon Barkley, he only had six carries and three catches.

On Monday, the Eagles didn't practice, but they had to release a hypothetical injury report. Barkley ended up being listed as a "non-participant" due to a knee injury. That has caused Eagles fans to be concerned, as they are a better team with Barkley on the field. Not to mention, the team plays on short notice, as they take on the New York Giants on Thursday. Fortunately for them, there is no need to panic.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Barkley is just dealing with "general soreness" coming out of the Broncos game on Sunday. Rapoport says that Barkley "fully expects" to play aginst the Giants on Thursday.

Latest report indicates Saquon Barkley won't miss revenge game vs. Giants in Week 6

This is good news for the Eagles and the fanbase. The last thing they needed was Barkley sidelined for the ultimate "get-right game" against the lowly Giants.

Barkley is returning to MetLife Stadium for the second time against his former team after signing with the Eagles in the 2024 offseason. Of course, the Eagles had the last laugh, as Barkley had a career year and won his first Super Bowl title in his first season away from the Giants. So, expect Barkley to not receive a warm welcome from Giants fans, even though the running back has had nothing but nice things to say about his former team.

But this year, the Eagles offense is under major scrutiny under new coordinator Kevin Patullo. Through four games this season, the Eagles offense ranks 30th in yards per game (261.1) and 12th in points per game (25.0). A.J. Brown publicly voiced his frustrations with a cryptic tweet after the team's win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Reports indicated that DeVonta Smith was also upset over his role in the offense and the lack of production on that side of the line of scrimmage overall. Barkley, though, hasn't voiced his displeasure, as he said he's more focused on wins.

This season, Barkley has rushed for 267 yards and three touchdowns on 83 carries, while also catching 17-of-19 targets for 128 yards and a touchdown.

Luckily for the Eagles, the offense should be able to thrive, as the Giants' secondary is an obvious weak spot for them and the defense as a whole has difficulty tackling. If Barkley is ready to go, perhaps he can have another big game against his former team.
