The Los Angeles Rams suffered their second defeat of the 2025 NFL season to an NFC West opponent, dropping the record to 3-2.

While the passing game was strong for the Rams in Week 5, quarterback Matthew Stafford threw for 389 yards and three pass touchdowns, the run game for LA sealed the fate against the San Francisco 49ers.

Running back Kyren Williams had a fumble loss at the endzone in the final minutes of the fourth quarter that would have helped seal the win for the Rams, putting their record to 4-1.

The offense was able to get one more drive in the dying minutes of the fourth and were able to force overtime. The Rams faced a fourth-and-one situation in overtime to help continue the game when offensive play caller Sean McVay called a run play with Williams in the backfield, which was stuffed, giving the win to the 49ers.

Williams had his worst rushing performance of the season with 65 rushing yards, but was a threat in the passing game, hauling in 66 receiving yards and two touchdown passes.

One NFL writer is suggesting that the Rams should add another RB to deal with the stuffed runs for the LA Rams.

Rams Should Target Breece Hall

Turf Show Times’ Kenneth Arthur believes should target New York Jets running back Breece Hall, with the player being on a winless team.

According to Pro Football Focus, Kyren Williams has nine explosive runs on the season, the sixth most in the league, but has a low explosive play percentage compared to Hall.

“This chart makes it so obvious why Hall is a complement to Kyren Williams, as Hall is high on the explosive rate (where Williams is low) and Williams has a low rate of stuffed plays but can’t turn those into big gains,” Arthur wrote.

“Ironically, we’re talking about Hall a day after he has a huge, costly fumble against the [Dallas] Cowboys. Not great timing there. But Hall has WAY better ball security than Williams and is a better all-around running back. Hall had 14 carries for 113 yards against Dallas, one of his best career days, despite being on a terrible team.”

According to NFL Network’s Mike Florio, Hall has nine explosive runs in the last three weeks, only behind two other players.

If the Rams were to acquire Hall, most likely in a trade, the Rams would have an elite running back duo.

What Would It Cost The Rams

The current leaders of the LA Rams running back group consist of Kyren Williams and Blake Corum doing the majority of the running load.

In Kenneth Arthur’s trade idea for Breece Hall, the Rams would give up a sixth-round pick and Corum — Arthur did not specify what year for the draft pick.

Corum is off to a good start for the Rams this season compared to his first season with the team.

The running back had 207 rushing yards as a rookie, while he currently has 133 yards this season, nearing his rookie numbers.

Head coach Sean McVay said he wants the offense to use Corum more this season, which lowers the chances of acquiring Breece Hall being low.
