Report: Everton keeping tabs on £36m Man United player ahead of January window

Everton are already making plans for the January transfer window.

David Moyes’ side have made a bright start to the Premier League season and currently reside in eighth place heading into the October international break.

However, Everton still have plenty of improvements to make if they’re to realise their aspirations of getting into Europe.

Beto and Thierno Barry have struggled this season, so Moyes and his chiefs are expected to look at bolstering their forward options in the winter transfer window.

With that said, the Toffees are eyeing a Manchester United star.

Everton eye Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee

With Barry yet to get off the mark following his £30m transfer from Villarreal in the summer, Moyes already has one eye on the January window as he considers signing another striker.

According to TEAMtalk, Everton are keeping tabs on Manchester United attacker Joshua Zirkzee, who is considering leaving.

Zirkzee hasn’t started a single Premier League game this season and has been reduced to just 82 minutes of football across all competitions.

It’s understood that Moyes has tracked the Netherlands international dating back to his tenure as West Ham United manager.

So clearly the Scotsman is a big admirer, and Zirkzee is reportedly open to staying in England.

Everton face competition for Joshua Zirkzee

If Everton are to land Zirkzee’s signature this winter, they will have to fend off some pretty stiff competition.

West Ham United are showing an interest, whilst the likes of Como, Juventus and AC Milan are all being linked.

United forked out around £36m on Zirkzee just over a year ago, so they’ll be keen to recoup most of that, with his contract not up until 2029.

The 24-year-old could be a really good fit for Everton as he can operate as a sole number nine and in a front two as the second striker.
