Manchester United flop Andre Onana looks set for a permanent move to Trabzonspor, with club chiefs already exploring a deal. The Cameroonian goalkeeper joined the Turkish side on a season-long loan late in the summer window.

His move away from Old Trafford came after a rollercoaster two years at Old Trafford in which his performances had been blighted by high-profile errors. Onana has enjoyed a more positive start to life with his new club, having kept two clean sheets across his first four appearances.

Trabonspor do not actually have an option to sign Onana permanently once his loan deal expires but it appears that they are keen to keep him around regardless. As per The Sun, club chiefs have already been in touch with the goalkeeper’s camp and expressed their desire to sign him permanently.

It is suggested that head coach Fatih Tekke has been left impressed with Onana’s performances, while his leadership qualities have shone. Talks with United over a permanent deal are anticipated to take place come the end of the season.

The Red Devils are yet to set a price for a permanent deal, having paid £47m to sign him originally from Inter Milan. Onana still has just under three years to run on his contract with United.

Speaking about his start to life with his adopted employers, he said: "I am very happy. I can say that I am very happy. I am starting a new project, a new adventure for me, I am very happy to be here. This is a feeling that makes me so happy.

“I've never felt so much love from people around me. It's a wonderful feeling to be made to feel at home from the very first moment.”

Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan has already spoken out on a permanent move. He said: “Onana has just joined us, and we and the technical team are pleased.

“He’s a player who cost his team €65 million, including bonuses. It’s impossible for Trabzonspor to make a transfer under those circumstances. If the technical staff is happy, we’ll see what we can do at the end of the year.”

Onana, 29, made 102 appearances for United. But he fell out of favour under Ruben Amorim this season having been replaced by Altay Bayindir.

His only appearance for the Red Devils this season came in a disastrous Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby Town. Summer signing Senne Lammens now looks set to be United’s number one for the foreseeable future.
