Speedy Steelers wide receiver gives injury update after scary shoulder injury

PITTSBURGH --Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Calvin Austin III had no definitive update on his shoulder injury when speaking on Monday.

Austin did not rule out missing the next few games, including an IR stint, but would not give a definite timeline nor would he talk about the specifics of his injury.

“I have no clue about that,” Austin said. “I’m just taking it a day at a time. Listening to the medical staff, Coach T, and whenever that time is, I’ll be ready.”

Austin was sent to a local hospital and put in a sling after immediately suffering the injury. Croke Park did not have an X-ray machine locally, though those X-rays came back as negative for Austin.

Austin has dealt with a few injuries this year, and missed nearly a month with an oblique injury during training camp that allowed others, such as Miller, to get reps with Aaron Rodgers.

If he has to miss more time, it will give Miller, Roman Wilson, and others an opportunity to make a real impact.

Austin was the Steelers’ fourth-round pick out of Memphis in the 2022 NFL Draft and had a breakout season with over 500 yards a year ago. He is now in the final year of his deal and hopes to cash in with another good season.
