Player ‘on the verge’ of leaving Manchester City permanently – Happy to negotiate terms

Late in the summer transfer window, Manuel Akanji joined Inter Milan on loan from Manchester City.

The defender has impressed in his time at the Italian giants. He’s started four games for the Nerazzurri, featuring in every possible minute since his arrival.

Corriere dello Sport report the 30-year-old is ‘on the verge’ of leaving Manchester City permanently.

The newspaper claim Inter tried to sign the centre-back when he was leaving Borussia Dortmund. They missed out on him to the Citizens, and now they do not want to miss out on again.

Inter have the option to buy Akanji permanently for €15m. It will be triggered if they win Serie A or if he plays 50% games in the campaign. Even if the centre-back doesn’t meet those requirements, the Nerazzurri will try to sign him permanently.

This can lead to negotiations with Manchester City. So far though, everything is heading in the right direction. The ex-Dortmund player is seen as a long-term option to strengthen Cristian Chivu’s backline.

The relationship between Akanji’s entourage and Inter is quite good. This can go a long way in helping any negotiations.
