Terps in the NFL Week 5: Diggs explodes in upset win

Week 5 of the NFL regular season came to a close with 15 Maryland football alumni seeing the field.

For a second straight week, Stefon Diggs had his best game as a New England Patriot. The 31-year-old led all receivers with 146 yards over 10 catches to lead New England in an 23-20 upset win over the Buffalo Bills.

One week after his 101-yard game against the Carolina Panthers, Diggs looked forward to his return to Buffalo for the first time since 2023, when he was last a member of the team.

“I was excited, I had kind of spoken about it being nostalgic. I was happy about it and I was just happy to be back playing football,” Diggs said to the media after the game. “It’s easy to kind of get lost in the moment while being out there. But I just tried to remain focused the whole time and be there for my teammates.”

The 11-year veteran collected his 38th 100-yard game of his career — his first time doing so in consecutive weeks since 2023. Diggs also logged his highest receiving yards tally since 2022, when he was with Buffalo playing against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Patriots now sit at 3-2 overall, a game behind the Bills in the AFC East in the first season of the Mike Vrabel era.
