We are officially five weeks into the 2025 NFL Season and our Week 5 NFL Quarterback Power Rankings just dropped. Once again, there was movement all throughout with the top 10 seeing some major shakeups.
There hasn’t been a week yet where the top 3 or the bottom 3 of the NFL Staring Quarterback Power Rankings stayed the same and this week is no different, though we are seeing some normalization across the power rankings now.
2025 Week 5 Power Rankings: Ranking All 32 Starting NFL Quarterbacks
During last week’s NFL Starting Quarterback Power Rankings we learned more about the league and with each game we gather more data and a deeper understanding of each QB’s skills this season.
32. Cooper Rush – Baltimore Ravens (Prev. Unranked)
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Cooper Rush
© Mitch Stringer-Imagn Images
Cooper Rush debuts in last place in the NFL Starting Quarterback Power Rankings after throwing three interceptions and zero touchdowns. He did have 179 passing yards and connected on 14 of 20 passing attempts but the Ravens might’ve very well looked like the worst team in the league in Week 5 and that started and ended with Cooper Rush.
It is unclear how long Lamar Jackson is going to be out but Baltimore is in for a tough time if they are stuck with Cooper Rush for an appreciable number of games. They do have a bye week in Week 7 so it is possible they only have one more week of Rush for now before Lamar Jackson can come back after the bye.
31. Geno Smith – Las Vegas Raiders (Prev. 26)

The Las Vegas Raiders might need to consider benching Geno Smith if this level of play continues for another week or two. He has fallen from 7th to 26th and now to 31st in the NFL Starting Quarterback Power Rankings after another dismal game.
Geno Smith had 0 touchdowns, 2 interceptions, and was 25/36 for 228 yards The Raiders got embarrassed on the road, losing 40-6 in Indianapolis and that all started with Geno Smith’s poor play.
30. Jake Browning – Cincinnati Bengals (Prev. 30)

Jake Browning stays in the #30 spot this week. He has a wild stat line and was entertaining to be sure but it wasn’t enough to beat the Lions.
Browning threw for 251 yards (26/40), 3 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions. He also led the team on the ground with 31 rushing yards (1 fumble). If he could figure out how to protect the ball better and avoid turnovers this week would have looked a LOT different.
29. Cam Ward – Tennessee Titans (Prev. 32)
Cam Ward, Tennessee Titans

Cam Ward climbed out of last place last week to 29th in the Week 5 power rankings after picking up a 1-point road win against the Cardinals.
Ward himself didn’t do much with his arm to earn that W though, with 0 passing TDs and 1 interception. He did have 265 passing yards but he had -6 rushing yards. Not a good look for him but the team got their desperately needed first win of the season.
28. Spencer Rattler – New Orleans Saints (Prev. 29)

Spencer Rattler saw moderate improvement in Week 5 but has struggled all season until now. He was 21/31 in passing for 225 yards, 1 touchdown, 0 interceptions, and rushed the ball for 21 yards.
The Saints beat New York 26-14 at home and they only had 88 yards on the ground. It was an ugly game but one that Spencer Rattler found a way to win.
27. Dillon Gabriel – Cleveland Browns (Prev. Unraked)

Anyone suiting up for the Browns would be better than Joe Flacco was but Dillon Gabriel had a few moments to shine in his season debut for Cleveland. It was a close loss, 21-17, against Minnesota where Dillon Gabriel threw the ball 33 times but only connected on 19 of those passes.
He had 2 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, and 190 passing yards. If he can improve week over week the Browns might have something to cheer for after all this season.
26. Michael Penix Jr. – Atlanta Falcons (Prev. 27)
Michael Penix Jr.

Michael Penix Jr. moved up 4 spots in the Week 4 NFL Staring Quarterback Power Rankings after an impressive performance. He would have moved further but he had been impotent through the first three weeks and I didn’t want to get too excited about one week of decent numbers.
The Falcons hosted Washington and picked up the 34-27 win at home. Penix Jr. threw for 313 yards which was sixth best in the league last week. He had 2 passing TDs, 1 INT, and connected on 20 of his 26 passing attempts in a game where he looked poised and in control.
25. Kyler Murray – Arizona Cardinals (Prev. 19)

On paper, this is a game Kyler Murray 100% should have won. It was a home game against a rookie QB and a winless team. But that’s why the play the games!
Murray threw for 220 yards, 0 TDs, 0 INTs, lost a fumble, and had 25 yards on the ground. All three of Arizona’s touchdowns were rushing including one from Kyler Murray. In the end, they lost to Cam Ward and the Titans by a single point.
24. Bryce Young – Carolina Panthers (Prev. 28)
Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young

Bryce Young picked up the second win of the season for the Carolina Panthers, beating Miami 27-24 at home. His stats were mostly solid, he was 19/30 passing for 198 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception.
Bryce did lose a fumble which could’ve been a big story had they not gone on to win the game. Ball protection is key for young QBs but he’s making solid progress week over week in the NFC South.
23. Jaxson Dart – New York Giants (Prev. 22)
Giants QB Jaxson Dart

Jaxson Dart came back to earth a little bit after a solid first start last week. He was 26/40 in passing for 202 yards, 2 touchdowns, but he also had 2 interceptions and a costly fumble.
The Giants could have easily snatched a road win in New Orleans but Dart turning the ball over three times hurt the team. He will have to do better going forward to remain the Giants’ starter.
22. Bo Nix – Denver Broncos (Prev. 24)
Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix

Bo Nix seems to be improving weekly. He had zero interceptions this week (1 last week) while throwing for 242 yards and 1 touchdown to J.K. Dobbins. He also racked up 22 yards on the ground scrambling.
This was certainly a signature win for Bo Nix and the Broncos… On the road against the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, winning 21-17 in a game where Denver came roaring back to score 18 points in the 4th quarter and snatch the W away from Philly.
21. Aaron Rodgers – Pittsburgh Steelers (Prev. 20)

Steelers QB and former NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers moved up two spots to #20 in this week’s power rankings. They got a close win over Minnesota, 24-21, with Rodgers throwing for 200 yards, 1 TD, and 0 INTs.
Rodgers looked solid. He connected on 18 of 22 passing attempts and only took 2 sacks. Aaron had the 8th highest quarterback rating in the league in Week 4 but he had been struggling since Week 1 so it will take another great performance before I’m willing to move him back into the top 10.
20. Tua Tagovailoa – Miami Dolphins (Prev. 25)
Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa

After moving up 3 spots in Week 4, Tua Tagovailoa moves up another 5 spots in Week 5 as he continues to make positive moves in the power rankings. He had a rock solid week, was 27/36 for 256 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions.
Tua actually moved up 3 spots this week. They beat the Jets at home 27-21 and despite losing Tyreek Hill, Tua was able to pick up the desperately needed win.
All that and the Dolphins still lost to the Carolina Panthers 24-27 after Carolina scored 17 points in the second half. Tua was sacked 3 times for 27 yards, something you always worry about given his past. But he looked good this week.
19. Caleb Williams – Chicago Bears (Prev. 14)

Seven days after having arguably the best week of any QB in Week 3, Caleb Williams put together another solid performance that was good enough to only drop him four spots in the NFL Starting QB Power Rankings for Week 4. Caleb Williams and the Bears won a close battle on the road, beating Vegas 25-24.
He threw the ball 37 times and completed 22 of those passes for 212 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception while rushing for 13 yards. Caleb had a 142.6 passer rating in Week 3 and this week it was just 73.3. It was a regression for sure.
18. Justin Fields – New York Jets (Prev. 18)

Justin Fields does not move in the Week 5 NFL Starting Quarterback Power Rankings after a solid week, albeit a loss, against the Dallas Cowboys.
He threw the ball 46 times, connecting on 32 of those passes for 2 touchdowns and 0 interceptions for a 100.2 passer rating. Fields also had 26 yards on the ground. If he strings together a few more stable weeks he could keep climbing the power rankings toward the top 10.
17. Trevor Lawrence – Jacksonville Jaguars (Prev. 21)

Trevor Lawrence and the Jags got a huge win on Monday Night Football against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. It ended with Trevor running the ball in for a game-winning TD where Lawrence fell on his rear not once but twice before scrambling and getting into the end zone. It was easily the funniest game-winning TD I’ve ever seen in the NFL.
Lawrence had 54 rushing yards, 2 rushing TDs, 221 passing yards (18-for-25), 1 passing TD, and 1 interception. He was everywhere on Monday night and the Jags needed that.
16. Justin Herbert – Los Angeles Chargers (Prev. 6)
Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert

Justin Herbert came crashing out of the top 10 in the NFL QB Power Rankings in Week 5. He was 22/29 passing, really his only good stat, for 166 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception.
Herbert tried to do it all with 60 yards on the ground but after jumping out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter he got dominated by Jayden Daniels and the Commanders, giving up 4 sacks for 24 yards with a QBR of 58.5. The Chargers led time of possession 34:19 to 25:41 and still lost by 17 points. That’s hard to do in the NFL!
15. Jayden Daniels – Washington Commanders (Prev. Unranked)

Jayden Daniels is back in the NFL Starting Quarterback Power Rankings this week after coming back from injury. He picked up a solid win on the road in Los Angeles, beating the Chargers 27-10.
Daniels was 15/26 passing, perhaps a little rusty with his accuracy. But he had 231 passing yards, 1 touchdown, 0 interceptions, and he ran the ball for 39 yards. The Chargers jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter but that didn’t shake Jayden at all who led his team back to a decisive win on the road.
14. Jared Goff – Detroit Lions (Prev. 15)

Some folks are saying that Jared Goff is back. He was 19/23 passing for 258 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions.
Goff led the Lions to a 37-24 win on the road in Cincinnati. Detroit outgained Cincy in yards, had fewer turnovers, and won the time of possession battle by nearly 10 minutes. This was a clinical win from Jared Goff and the Lions.
13. Jordan Love – Green Bay Packers (Prev. 12)
Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers

A week after losing to the Browns (!!), Jordan Loved looked sharp. He made NFL history in the 40-40 tie, a ‘scorigami’ and first time an NFL game has ever ended in a 40-40 tie.
That Sunday night game was electric though, and Jordan Love threw the ball for 337 yards while connecting on 31 of 43 passing attempts for 3 touchdowns and 0 interceptions.
The Green Bay Packers cannot rely on him to throw the ball 43 times every game. That is not tenable over the course of a season. They need to get the ground game going to support Jordan Love but he looked great in a bounce back week after the ugly loss to Cleveland.
12. Sam Darnold – Seattle Seahawks (Prev. 16)

Sam Darnold moved up two spots in the QB Power Rankings in Week 5 despite the Seahawks losing to Tampa Bay. It was a QB battle and unfortunately he was going up against Baker Mayfield…
Darnold threw for 341 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 1 interception. Receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba synced up with Darnold for 132 of those yards. Seattle gave everything they had in this game but it just wasn’t enough to beat Tampa who has looked pretty special through five games.
11. C.J. Stroud – Houston Texans (Prev. 17)

C.J. Stroud had a phenomenal week. He connected with receivers on 23 of 27 total passing attempts for 244 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions.
Stroud’s 143.9 rating was the third-highest in the league this week. He also ran the ball just one time but managed to peel off 30 yards. It was all part of the 44-10 blowout of the Ravens where Stroud and the Texans looked like a completely revamped team this week.
10. Carson Wentz – Minnesota Vikings (Prev. 11)

Moving up one spot this week is Vikings QB Carson Wentz. He snatched a close win against the Browns, 21-17.
Wentz threw the ball 34 times (25 completions), had 1 touchdown connection with Jordan Addison and 236 yards through the air. It was another very solid outing for Carson. The Vikings are 3-2 through Week 5 but look to be in solid hands so far with Carson Wentz as J.J. McCarthy remains injured.
9. Drake Maye – New England Patriots (Prev. 13)

New England Patriots QB Drake Maye breaks into the top 10 of the Power Rankings for his first time this week after throwing for 273 yards (22/30). He looked good this week in Buffalo.
While Drake Maye didn’t have any passing TDs he also had zero interceptions and most importantly, they beat the Bills on the road. There was a lot of poise shown from Drake Maye in this game.
8. Mac Jones – San Francisco 49ers (Prev. Unranked)
quarterback Mac Jones

Mac Jones is replacing his 49ers brethren on the NFL QB Power Rankings this week in the same spot Brock Purdy previously appeared in after an incredibly strong showing against the LA Rams on the road.
Jones led the 49ers into Los Angeles and picked up a 26-23 win on the road, going 33-for-49 in passing for 2 touchdowns, 342 yards, and 0 interceptions. Just an incredibly solid week for Mac Jones all around.
7. Jalen Hurts – Philadelphia Eagles (Prev. 8)
Jalen Hurts

Jalen Hurts hasn’t really made any mistakes so far this season. He moves up one spot in the QB Power Rankings despite losing at home to the Broncos in a game where Hurts was rock solid.
He threw the ball for 280 yards (23/38) and had 2 touchdowns. Hurts didn’t use his legs really at all, with just three yards on the ground. Unfortunately, Saquon Barkley couldn’t get anything going on the ground either and the Eagles took the L after giving up 18 points in the 4th quarter to the Broncos.
6. Josh Allen – Buffalo Bills (Prev. 2)
Bills QB Josh Allen
Denny Medley - Imagn Images
Josh Allen dropped to 6th in the Power Rankings this week after climbing to 2nd last week. He took the L at home to Drake Maye and the Patriots and a lot of it was on Josh Allen himself.
Allen was 22/31 passing for 253 yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 interception, 53 rushing yards, and a fumble. Those 2 turnovers from Josh Allen came back to haunt him. Ultimately though, he’s still a top 3 QB in the league on any given week but his play in Week 5 warranted dropping him a few spots.
5. Patrick Mahomes – Kansas City Chiefs (Prev. 3)

Patrick Mahomes went into Jacksonville on Monday night and took the L in a close battle against Trevor Lawrence. Mahomes threw for 318 yards, 1 touchdown (1 INT), and rushed for another TD.
Mahomes had 60 yards on the ground and Kansas City had 14 points in the 4th quarter but that wasn’t enough to beat the Jags who won on the most hilarious game-winning TD we think we’ve ever seen.
4. Daniel Jones – Indianapolis Colts (Prev. 5)
Indianapolis Colts starting quarterback Daniel Jones

After a loss last week the Indianapolis Colts were firing on all cylinders in Week 5 against the Las Vegas Raiders and Daniel Jones once again looked stellar. He was 20/29 passing, had 2 touchdowns, 212 passing yards, 0 interceptions, but he did fumble the ball once.
Daniel Jones remains firmly in the MVP discussion through 5 weeks which is just wild. He is third in the league in passing yards, 8th in passer rating, and ranks 1st in ESPN’s QBR.
3. Dak Prescott – Dallas Cowboys (Prev. 10)
Dak Prescott
Dale Zanine - Imagn Images
Dak Prescott made big moves this week. He jumped from 10th to 3rd after stellar back-to-back weeks.
Dak threw the ball for 237 yards, 4 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, and scrambled for 28 yards. Dallas easily handled the Jets, picking up a 37-22 win at the Meadowlands to move to 2-2-1 on the season. Prescott has been unflappable in recent weeks and has proved to be exactly the star that Dallas needed him to be this season.
2. Baker Mayfield – Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Prev. 4)

Moving into the #2 spot in the NFL QB Power Rankings this week is Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Baker Mayfield who engineered a final second drive against Seattle which set up a game-winning field goal as time expired.
The ‘Bake Show’ was in full effect on Sunday in Seattle. Mayfield threw the ball 33 times and connected on 29 of those passes. He had a ridiculous 379 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, and he scrambled for 15 yards. Baker was everything the Bucs needed and then some on Sunday and they left the West Coast with a signature win on the road.
1. Matthew Stafford – Los Angeles Rams (Prev. 1)

Holding onto the #1 post in the 2025 NFL Starting Quarterback Power Rankings this week is LA Rams QB Matthew Stafford. Baker Mayfield is hot on his heels though and vying for that #1 spot just as soon as Stafford slips up.
Matthew Stafford threw for 389 passing yards, 3 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions against the 49ers. He did have a lost fumble which ultimately might’ve bee the difference maker in a close game but Stafford still looked pristine from the pocket. Baker and Stafford are operating on a different plane from the rest of the league in recent weeks.
