Cincinnati Bengals release quarterback

The Cincinnati Bengals came into the 2025 season with Super Bowl aspirations after linking both of Joe Burrow’s top targets, Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, to long-term extensions. The season got off to a strong start when the Bengals won the first two games of the campaign.

Unfortunately, Burrow left the second game with a turf toe injury that’s going to keep him out for a minimum of three months. In Burrow’s absence, things have been a disaster. The Bengals have lost three straight games with Jake Browning as the starter.

Now, the Bengals are letting one of their quarterbacks go, according to one prominent league insider, potentially to bring in some new competition for Browning in the quarterback room.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“Dear lord I hope it’s because they’re making room for Jameis WINston,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“I sure hope they are making room to sign a QB that gives us a chance. That’s all we are asking for, someone to throw the ball in the vicinity of our elite receivers and not directly to the other team,” someone else added.

It’ll be interesting to see where the Bengals go from here.
