TBR Football understands former Everton and Burnley boss Sean Dyche has held talks with Rangers about becoming their new manager.
Rangers sacked manager Russell Martin on Sunday evening after their draw with newly-promoted Falkirk saw them remain with just one win from seven Scottish Premiership games this season, increasing the gap between themselves and league leaders Hearts to 11 points.
The Gers have drawn five of those, losing to the Jambos a month ago for their only league defeat, but the writing has long been on the wall after being dumped out of the Champions League by a crushing 9-1 aggregate defeat to Club Brugge.

It leaves Rangers with the task of appointing a new manager for the second time in four months, and a number of options have already been linked with a move to Ibrox.

Exclusive: Sean Dyche won’t take Rangers job
Sean Dyche has been linked to a number of roles since leaving Everton last season, and his former Toffees boss Kevin Thelwell, now sporting director at Ibrox, was keen to be reunited.
TBR Football understands Thelwell is a fan of Dyche after their time at Everton, and believes he could have been the right man to fix the Gers. That said, he won’t be taking the role.
TBR Football’s chief correspondent, Graeme Bailey, said to TBR Football: “I am told that Dyche was approached last week to gauge his interest, and he is believed to be open to the prospect.
“Kevin Thelwell knows Dyche very well, but following talks despite a belief from both sides that in theory it could work – it was decided not to progress at this point.
“Rangers are looking at a number of options to this point.”

Sean Dyche’s style of play could’ve worked a treat for Rangers after Russell Martin failure
When Rangers fans look back to their halcyon days, the image of how they want to be seen will be a tough-to-beat side, with Ibrox being a fortress, alongside being sturdy in European competition.
Russell Martin’s football has been the opposite of that. He won just five of his 17 games in charge of Rangers, with two of those coming in the Scottish League Cup at home, prioritising possession but doing little with the ball.
Sean Dyche, meanwhile, has been an incredible boss down the years, notably at Burnley, who he took from Championship obscurity to the Europa League and years of Premier League stability.

Sean Dyche’s home record in the Premier League
The key for Dyche if he had taken over at Rangers, would be to stop any unwanted losses at home, especially on the domestic scene, but even in Europe, where Rangers have lost both of their Europa League clashes.
That said, the move is now not occurring.
