The Philadelphia Eagles experienced their first loss on Sunday, as they were stunned by the Denver Broncos with a final score of 21-17. To make matters worse, the team experienced some heavy injuries, including another to Landon Dickerson.
Dickerson exited the game in the first half, which was due to an ankle injury that appears to be significant. According to multiple reports, the star offensive lineman could miss at least one to two games due to his injury.
Dickerson landed on the injury report as a DNP (Did Not Participate), and though he has yet to practice the remaining days leading up to Thursday night’s showdown with the New York Giants, he is already being ruled out with the ankle injury.
This has yet to be confirmed, but there is a growing concern that the ankle injury will keep him out for a minimum of one game, but could be two. The good news and silver lining for Dickerson is that he will not be placed on IR as a result of the ankle injury.
The Eagles could be in some trouble with Dickerson out of the lineup. They are set to face a very tough Giants front that contains Brian Burns, Dexter Lawrence, and more.
Keeping Jalen Hurts upright and clear is paramount to the success of the team, and having a solid offensive line also goes a long way for the Eagles’ “tush push” play. With a hurt offensive line, the team may need to start figuring out what to do regarding the issues with the passing game.
Though there are growing concerns with the lack of production for A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, both were far more utilized in the Eagles’ loss to the Broncos. Smith secured 114 yards on eight receptions, and Brown logged 43 yards on five receptions.
Clearly, both star receivers have not missed a beat. With Dickerson out, the team might lean heavily on the passing game in Weeks 6 and 7, as the run game could take a hit due to injuries.
