It looked like City would have to settle for a share of the spoils after a stunning late effort from Arsenal substitute Chloe Kelly, but the Swiss teenager’s first goal for the Club moved us up to second in the WSL table.

The Blues had taken the lead through a Bunny Shaw header, but the visitors replied inside 60 seconds of the restart through Mariona Caldentey’s first-time finish.

We got our noses in front again when Kerstin Casparij bundled the ball over the line from a corner before Kelly’s equaliser set up a grandstand finish.

And it was City who came out on top, as Beney picked up play from Shaw and fired into the bottom corner.

City and Arsenal have served up some classic encounters in recent years and this was certainly another one to add to the list.
