A former Man United wonderkid will now be under the management of a popular UK YouTuber.

Man United’s academy has produced some top quality talent in the past, much of which end up playing for the first team, and in some cases developing into world class talent.

Some end up spending much of their career in the EFL, and in League One and Two, without ever really hitting the heights that they were tipped for. One such player now finds himself playing under the management of a popular UK YouTuber, in the upcoming season of Baller League.

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson joins Baller League

Many Man United fans will remember Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, who broke through at United in the 2015/16 season under Dutch manager Louis Van Gaal. The left-back made 10 Premier League appearances that year at the age of just 18, and was tipped to become one of the best young English defenders.

However, it didn’t materialise for Borthwick-Jackson who went on a number of loan moves away from Old Trafford, before leaving permanently in Oldham Athletic in 2020. After his time at Oldham, Borthwick-Jackson had spells with Burton Albion, Slask Wroclaw, and Ross County. He has been a free agent since August 2024.

Borthwick-Jackson has now taken the next step in his career as he has been drafted by Baller League side M7 FC. He was picked for the second season of the UK edition of Baller League, and was drafted with the 26th selection by British YouTuber Miniminter, who is a member of the Sidemen.

The former Man United star will now go under Miniminter’s management, hoping to help them to a better finish in Baller League, as last year M7 FC finished 8th out of 12 teams.

What is Baller League?

Baller League originated in Germany, and was created by former Bundesliga stars Mats Hummels and Lukas Podolski. It started in 2024, but there wasn’t a UK league until this year. The first season of Baller League was broadcast on Sky Sports, and involved celebrity managers including Ian Wright, Micah Richards, Gary Lineker, Chloe Kelly, Dave and John Terry amongst others.

The league is a futsal-style format with six-a-side teams playing over two 15 minute halves. The top four teams enter into a playoff to decide the champion, with last season’s winners being YouTuber Sharky’s team SDS FC.

The next season of Baller League is due to start next year, with no official announcement of a start date just yet. The league is currently in the ‘summer transfer window’ phase, where players can move between teams, and teams can draft new players, which is what happened with Borthwick-Jackson in the most recent case.
