Sorry, Taylor Swift fans, but the singer has announced she will never, ever, ever headline the Super Bowl halftime show.

The pop superstar was a guest on The Tonight Show on Monday night, her first appearance on the show since the Midnights era in 2022, to promote her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl.
But in one segment, host Jimmy Fallon ran down a list of rumours that the pop superstar either confirmed or denied.
One of those fabrications is that Swift “turned down the Super Bowl ‘because of performance footage,’” to which the singer promptly replied, “No.”
She went on to give a very lengthy explanation, first noting her relationship with Jay-Z, who makes the final decision on halftime show performers thanks to his entertainment company Roc Nation’s partnership with the NFL.
“Here’s the thing, Jay-Z has always been very good to me. Our teams are very close. They sometimes will call and say how does she feel about … and that’s not an official offer or a conference room conversation,” she detailed.
“We’re always able to tell him the truth, which is that I am in love with a guy who does that sport on that actual field.”
Swift explained how stressful it is to watch fiancé Travis Kelce, a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs and a Super Bowl champion, on the field — and how that factors into her decision.

“That is violent chess. That is gladiators without swords. That is dangerous,” she declared in words that sound like future lyrics.
“The whole season I am locked in on what that man is doing on the field,” Swift continued.

“Can you imagine if he’s out there every single week putting his life on the line, doing this very dangerous, very high-pressure, high-intensity sport, and I’m like, ‘I wonder what my choreo should be. I think we should do two verses of ‘Shake it Off’ into ‘Blank Space’ into ‘Cruel Summer’ would be great.’”
Other high-profile entertainers who’ve headlined the Super Bowl over the last couple of decades include Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, Beyonce, Bruno Mars and Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and The Weeknd.
