Former Spain and Barcelona left-back Jordi Alba will retire at the end of the current Major League Soccer season.

The 36-year-old won Euro 2012 with Spain and the Champions League with Barcelona before joining former team-mates Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Luis Suarez at Inter Miami in 2023.

Miami have qualified for the play-offs which are scheduled to end in early December.

"The time has come to close a truly meaningful chapter in my life," Alba said in a video posted on Instagram.

"I've decided to bring my professional football career to an end at the conclusion to this season. I do so with complete conviction, with peace, and with happiness."

Alba retired from international football in 2023 after making 93 appearances for Spain.
