Rodrygo was heavily tipped to leave Real Madrid in the summer.
The Reds were incredibly busy in the transfer market and spent almost £450m, a figure that still could have been a lot higher if they got all their targets.
Marc Guehi was the closest move that eventually did not happen, but there were many other players who Liverpool were linked with.
One of these was Brazilian winger Rodrygo, with the 24-year-old looking like he was going to leave Real Madrid after struggling for game time in pre-season.
However, he now seems part of Xabi Alonso’s plans, although he has hinted at what would need to happen if he ever were to depart the Spanish capital.

Rodrygo never wants to leave Real Madrid
Once Liverpool sold Luis Diaz, many were wondering who would come in to replace him, especially as he was such a key figure in the team.
Rodrygo was reportedly high up on the list, but a move never materialised, with the Reds opting against signing a new winger in the end.
The Brazilian has admitted, though, that he did have offers on the table to leave Madrid, but he has also hinted to Liverpool that if he does leave, then it will be his current employers’ decision and not his.

“Every summer, the same thing happens to me. Whether I’m going to leave or whether I have offers from this club or that,” he told Diario AS.
“Every week, I was in a team if I paid attention to what was published. Of course, there are always offers; I’m not going to lie about that.
“But I always made it clear to the club that I want to continue succeeding here, even more than I already have. It’s a lot to have won two Champions Leagues at my age, but now I want more European Cups in this shirt.
“I’ve always said: ‘As long as Real Madrid wants me, I’ll be here.’ If one day Real Madrid says to me: ‘Rodry, find a team,’ I’ll say ‘OK.’ But that hasn’t happened.

“The club has always told me they count on me. And when I had a problem, they were there for me. People speculated because I kept quiet. But I knew what I was going to do this season with Real Madrid and that I’m going to be focused on giving my best. It hasn’t bothered me. I was calm, and here I am… as always. This is my seventh season.”
Liverpool may regret not signing a winger
With nobody coming in to replace Diaz, this has left just Cody Gakpo and 17-year-old Rio Ngumoha as Liverpool’s options in this position, something that is far from ideal.
To make matters worse, the Dutchman has struggled for form at the start of the season and Ngumoha has found chances hard to come by, suggesting they should have signed a new left-winger.
Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz can play there but it is not their natural position, meaning Slot certainly has a lot to think about when it comes to this area of the pitch.
Rodrygo certainly would have been a good option but he seems pretty happy where he is, although it would be no surprise to see Liverpool try again in less than a year’s time.
