The Baltimore Ravens need to do whatever they can to turn this season around.
After a blowout to the Texans where they allowed 44 points, the Ravens have signed safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson to their practice squad. It's a move that could help Baltimore's injury-plagued defense.
Gardner-Johnson, ironically, was released late last month by the Texans after reportedly not fitting in with the team's scheme.
"It was my decision to move on," head coach DeMeco Ryans said, via the Houston Chronicle. "I know what's best for my team... That's why I made the decision."
Prior to being traded to the Texans, Gardner-Johnson won a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles where he started 16 games and collected 6 interceptions. He's also played for the New Orleans Saints and Detroit Lions.

The Ravens defense has allowed 406.8 yards per game, ranking 31st in the NFL. Several of their key secondary players like Marlon Humphrey, Chidobe Awuzie, and Kyle Hamilton are listed as questionable for this week.

Gardner-Johnson will begin his stint on the practice squad but is the caliber of player that could provide some help to an ailing defense. With QB Lamar Jackson still nursing a hamstring injury, Baltimore's defense needs to step up now more than ever.
Gardner-Johnson could give them a boost when they need it most.
